Mr. P Durga Rao is a distinguished business leader and entrepreneur, currently serving as the Chairman of ATUM Beverages Pvt. Ltd. He is the Founder of the ATUM Group of Companies, established in 2000, which has grown into a diversified and dynamic business group with a strong presence across multiple sectors.
During his school years, Mr. Durga Rao actively participated in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and had the honor of taking part in the Republic Day Parade—one of the most prestigious achievements for a cadet. This early exposure instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, dedication, and commitment to excellence. His involvement in NCC played a significant role in shaping his leadership abilities, teamwork, self-confidence, and a strong sense of service to the nation—values that continue to guide his personal and professional journey.
He pursued his academic studies in Mathematics, successfully completing both his Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) degrees. His strong academic foundation enhanced his analytical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and problem-solving capabilities. The combination of his educational background and NCC experience has enabled him to excel in mentoring, team building, and organizational development.
With a vision for global expansion, Mr. Durga Rao led the ATUM Group into international markets in 2024 through ATUM FLY Pvt. Ltd., establishing operations in Sri Lanka, Maldives, and the United Arab Emirates. He also serves as Chairman of several group companies, including Lanka Beverages Pvt. Ltd., Lanka Spices Pvt. Ltd., Lanka Fabric, and Lanka Tourism Pvt. Ltd.
Prior to his current role, he served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) of Amrutha Enterprises, where he demonstrated strong leadership and operational excellence.
With over 20 years of experience in the airlines and tourism industries, Mr. Durga Rao has played a pivotal role in transforming ATUM Group into a highly valued and recognized organization. He is the driving force behind the “One ATUM” strategy, focusing on simplification, scale, and synergy, and is currently leading the organization towards a sustainable and future-ready transformation.
He is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Sri Lanka and has been honored with several prestigious business awards for his contributions to the industry.
